This course is up to four parts over a timeframe which suits participants.
It is designed for writers who have already completed first drafts and want to improve their editing skills and manuscript perspective.
They are not looking for an editor, they are looking also to become editors themselves and to learn for future projects of their own.
They are looking to work with more diligence, with stronger inclinations and with a closer affinity to the voice in their head, rather than the voice they think they should hear.
They want to get their story ready for readers.
This is a practical, writer led course without pretension. Suzanne informs your work in progress with an overview read of a 10,000 word extract, together with notes. You then take the strategies you need into your redrafts.
A lot of time is given to shaping the work, but also to understanding the reader, who wants to understand their own life and perception through the magnified truth of fiction and memoir. The closer a writer remains to their own truth, their own uniqueness, the better the writer reader relationship.
This is for writers with sharp cutting blades, who know less is more on paper, that readers need room to work with the writer in order to own a story with them. They know the value of silence in a story.
They use the shadows words cast to great effect. They know they are not learning anything, but writers whose work will be read again because they gave the words the time polished, before publication.
Cost: 250 euros per session. Three hours with a half hour break at the midpoint. Notes provided.
